Position:
Senior PHP Developer
$50,000 - $70,000
Description:
We know you're out there. Yes, you -- the basement-dwelling type who codes so fast your fingers smoke. Who single-handedly writes MVC frameworks in your spare time, while contributing to the latest PHP builds AND the Broommaster 5000 project. Forgive the stereotype - perhaps you're sitting in an office tower in downtown Salt Lake City, stuck writing code in a suit and ready to bail? Indeed.. for something so much more interesting:
Rare Method is on the prowl for a senior developer to lead our Salt Lake City office and partner with our Development team located in Calgary (yup... way up north)! We are looking for someone who who has experience in every aspect of the delivery process - from initial specifications and design to Q/A and release. We would expect you to meet design criteria and deliver quality projects on-time and on-budget while being intimately involved in the details: managing expectations, sharing knowledge, defining standards and best practices, and establishing yourself as a guru - because you are!
Required skills:
Ideally, you can also find your way around a *NIX command line, have a decent understanding of search engine optimization considerations for web development, and of course we'll give you points if you're multilingual. Do you speak Ruby, Python... or (go ahead, loosen the collar), C#? Please, get in touch. We have a rapidly growing development team and a full pipeline of interesting, challenging projects - this opportunity will take your development to an entirely new level.
- Great communication skills with an ability to interface with clients, the Salt Lake City Team and our Technical Director in Calgary
- Able to read and create UML diagrams
- A solid understanding of design patterns typically found in web applications
- Proficient with using (RE-using!) libraries, frameworks, and tools
- A good understanding of security as it pertains to web development
- Working knowledge of a versioning system like CVS or Subversion
- A passion for object oriented development
- Strong CSS, and able to create XHTML/CSS layouts by hand
- A renewed interest in JavaScript (along with every other developer on the planet)
- Knowledge or interest in .net Development would be considered an asset, but is not required
Required experience:
- At least four years of PHP/MySQL development experience
- Experience with PHP5 and MySQL5 preferred
