[UGAF] layer style > create layer

Wow! I just learned something new watching a podcast that will solve  
a recurring pain point of mine. There are many times that I need to  
manipulate a layer style (usually a drop shadow) independent of the  
layer and am frustrated that there is not an easier way. My solution  
has been to save the individual layer out as a PNG (since it supports  
transparency) and then import it back into my project. I just learned  
however that there is a feature in PS in the layer menu that  
separates the layer style into it's own layer.

layer > layer style > create layer


How I wish I'd know of this years ago.
