[UGAF] copy effect from one object to another in Illustrator

I tried in Illustrator 10 first and assumed it worked in later
versions. Apparently it doesn't. After searching online help, there is
a way. If you apply the effects to a layer (you can target the layer
by clicking the little circle next to the layer in the layers
pallete), any object you create or add to that layer will receive the
effects. As far as I can tell there is no way to copy effects once
they have been applied to an object. Stupid Adobe... :)
