Description:

(as consultant)
Exceptional communication skills in interactions with clients, end  
users,
developers and others throughout the design process.
The ability to research and understand a customer's needs.
The ability to view problems from a holistic viewpoint and accurately
pinpoint their root cause.
the ability to structure and define problems within known and perhaps
difficult constraints.
The ability to build and maintain relationships and work in a team
environment.
The ability to resolve conflict and disparaging opinions
how the design solutions and deliverables satisfied project goals and
objectives
The ability to write and produce useful project documentation (design
briefs, audience definition, comparative analysis, etc.)

(as artist)
his/her approach to design process, including research, analysis or  
other
information gathering and investigation.
the ability to effectively communicate visually through drawings,  
diagrams,
and flow charts.
the ability to creatively develop solutions from ambiguous or ill-formed
requirements.
the ability to speak the "language of design", especially as it  
relates to
the field of expertise.
knowledge and ability in usability methods and theory.
knowledge and ability to ability to work with basic visual design
principles, including: layout hierarchy, composition, color, balance,
harmony, typography, etc.
A comprehensive knowledge of design solutions, both historical and  
current,
in the designers area of expertise.

a high level of knowledge in the field for which they are designing. A
knowledge of materials, processes, methods, tools, etc.
skill in graphic design
skill and knowledge in web standards development and best  
practices(XHTML,
CSS, JavaScript).
skill and knowledge in rich-media development platforms, including:
Flash,Flex,WPF,Silverlight, etc.
knowledge in server-side technologies, including: JSP, XQuery
skill and knowledge in working with enterprise software technologies and
business reporting tools, including: Corda, Business Objects, etc.
