[UGAF] Designing rates

Forgive that I am on gmail mobile and cannot snip or bottom-post.
A rule of thumb for determining your contract rate is to divide your
salary by 1000 and charge that per hour. So, if a salary for someone
of your skillset would be, say $60kn then $60/hr is a good starting
point. Of course market forces, plus your own personal supply/demand
for work will affect what you charge. If you hire a subcontractor, I'd
recommend you bill at *least* 1.5x their cost to you, though 2x isn't
uncommon.
@wade, I think this approach is very fair and reasonable. It makes
excellent sense, and is easy to both explain to the client and track
the results thereof. X pages = $y. Simple as that.
@ray, those are likely the baseline rates, but I can't find any
developers willing to take that little! my base pay-rate for that kind
of work would likely be $5 to $10 higher.
