[UPHPU] javascript file being send with text/html header

I have javascript files that are being served incorrectly with the  
MIME type text/html and I cannot figure out why.

I am linking to them like this:

<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="/path/to/ 
file/file.js"></script>


Why would this be happening?
