[UPHPU] Reliable Hosting

Been having some trouble with the hosting provider I'm using.  One of 
them can't seem to stay up, and the other won't look at why the server 
they gave me is screwed up.

I need some recommendations for what I'm looking for:

512 Mb RAM burstable to 1024
1800 MHz processor
50 Gig HDD space
2,000 Gb monthly bandwidth
Price range: $50-$65/mo.
Full root access to install/configure/set things up however I want 
without CPanel, Plesk, or anything like either of these.

The processor, HDD, and monthly bandwidth is negotiable.  Obviously, I'm 
looking for something with great uptime.

I would prefer that the hosting provider offer an OpenSUSE system, 
although I am comfortable with the RH-based systems as well.  I am 
looking for a VPS, Dedicated, Managed, or similar package.

What do ya'll pros use, and why do you like them?

Thank you for any relief from this problem.  I've had nothing but grief 
for almost a month, now, to the point where clients are losing money.
