I've never had much luck with 1and1, I've been with them since the days that
they offered a free account and then upgraded everyone to their pro hosting
service. One I've recently come across (and I'm going to try) is
www.esecuredata.com. Their unmanaged (what I want) dedicated servers range
from $49-$149. Even their $49/month server would suite your needs it looks
like. I'm going to do their $79/month once they start offering it again (on
a monthly rather than 15month contract).
We used hostmysite.com at my last company and I would agree, they are great
hwoever tehy were pricey. For our two servers we had with them we were
paying almost $1000 per month. They also had a few issues (like editting
our host file and bringing our site down), but overall, if you have the
money I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.
